Mathnasium Learning Centers Deploys Innovative Approach to Drive Education and Growth

When the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the notion of classroom education seemingly overnight, Mathnasium Learning Centers was armed and ready to help kids continue to learn face-to-face.

In an “all-hands-on-deck” leadership-driven initiative, Mathnasium fast-tracked Mathnasium@home, a live, online learning solution now available across centers in the United States and Canada as well as in the UK, UAE, Vietnam, Egypt, India, and Australia.

The expedited deployment of Mathnasium@home, initially slated to roll out to centers through spring 2021, showcases the brand’s muscle as North America’s leading math-only supplemental education franchise. Pilot-tested over three years, the web-based math tutoring service now provides new revenue streams for franchisees forced to temporarily pause in-person instruction.

“Mathnasium@home is a one-of-a-kind service in franchising designed to be as good as the in-person experience,” says Chris Davenport, Mathnasium’s associate vice president of Franchise Development. “Kids still get the same personalized, proprietary learning curriculum and face-to-face expert instruction, it just happens to be in the comfort and safety of their own home.”

With more than 1,000 locations, Mathnasium continues to set the bar as an innovative, trusted brand and one of the hottest names in franchising. The Los Angeles-based year-round educational chain, which has doubled in size in the past five years, stands at the forefront of the global private tutoring marketing projected to exceed $272 billion by 2024.

Mathnasium, founded in 2002, transforms the lives of children from grades 2 through 12 with a fresh approach to math that boosts school grades and enhances students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Whether a student is looking to improve on foundational concepts or to master advanced skills, the Mathnasium Method goes far beyond the traditional drill and practice approach to teach math so that children really understand, master, and love it.

Ranked #2 in Forbes’ 2019 Best Franchises to Buy in America, Mathnasium’s explosive domestic expansion — with plenty of room for growth — aims to fill a huge gap at a critical time in STEM education.

“Math is not going anywhere,” says Renold Rose, Mathnasium’s Senior Director of Marketing. “We are seeing how important the words and actions of scientists, doctors, and statisticians are right now in the midst of this Coronavirus pandemic. Ultimately, the leaders of the world strongly rely on mathematicians, scientists, and engineers who can look at huge problems and tell us, with as much certainty as possible, what is happening in our world and how we can make the best of it.”

Mathnasium@home was initially developed to provide tutoring and math homework help for students unable to consistently get to a local center because of busy school-year schedules, geographical distance, vacations, or homeschooling. It has now, though, become a critical solution for continuing to provide for the demand of expert, live math instruction. Similar to the local learning center experience, students attend their live sessions an average of 2-3 times per week to work on a personalized learning plan. The cost of Mathnasium@home is the same as traditional center enrollment, and anyone with an Internet-connected computer can take advantage of the service.

There are quite a number of steps to getting an education (or any) franchise.  After an initial discussion to make sure we match up the correct franchise for you and your market, we will collect a signed NDA (non-disclosure agreement) which will allow the brand to share more sensitive information with you.  Also, an application so they have a bit more information about your company and objectives.  Then a 3-way call with us, yourselves, and the franchisor development team.
