Who got their money’s worth for online advertising in Vietnam? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Itracker.vn, a digital marketing tracking service in Vietnam has released a very interesting infographic for those interested in the growth of Vietnam’s online advertising market. It shows the top sectors and websites that companies are spending online marketing dollars on.

Some interesting stats to note from the infographic include:

  • The top three sectors were telecommunications, automotive transport, and information media. Telecoms companies spent over $1.3 million on online ads. No doubt, this is supported by the intense spending from mobile companies like Mobifone.
  • Mobifone took the top spot for top advertiser, far ahead of runner-up Nokia. Mobifone spent about $465,000 on online advertising.
  • VNExpress, one of Vietnam’s top news sites, took the top spot for the biggest destination of ad traffic. VNexpress raked in over $3.1 million in Q3 alone.

This small sample of the market gives us a quick clue into how Vietnam’s online landscape is forming, especially around advertising, and thus also gives us an idea of where most users are frequenting. It’s worth noting that VNExpress is not the only news site that’s drawing in massive amounts of users and therefore ads. Its counterparts, 24h.com.vn, Dantri.com.vn, and Vietnamnet.vn also pulled in considerable ad spend.

It’s worth noting in this infographic though, that these are biased to iTracker’s numbers and is not a totally comprehensive picture on the digital advertising market. After all, Vietnam spent over $700 million on digital advertising in 2012. Thus, this is just a glance at a much bigger digital advertising world.
