Dulcé Café, a leading South African café-restaurant chain, has signed an exclusive franchise consultancy agreement with Vietnam Franchises with the aim of opening restaurants throughout South-East Asia.

Mike Pullen, MD of Dulcé Café, said Asia’s booming younger population, rising disposable incomes, pro-western orientation, make the region a significant market for the café-restaurant concept chain. Vietnam Franchises will assist Dulcé Café in finding strong and experienced F&B operators who share the same vision and passion.

Dulcé Café is a café-restaurant concept that bridges the gap between traditional coffee house and restaurant – giving consumers the best of both worlds. While the gross profit margin on coffee is traditionally good, it is the higher priced food menu items that increase turnover and viability.

According to Pullen, the company is embarking upon an international expansion campaign that has seen it grow throughout continental African, the Middle East, and with its sights firmly set on the Asian market.

Research has shown that almost half the population will consciously choose a ‘coffee shop’ before a restaurant when making the decision on where to eat. The menu has won numerous awards and is suitable for a wide variety of demographics and was designed by numerous award winning chefs, including an apprentice of the world renowned chef Jamie Oliver.

Pullen says an overwhelming majority of Dulcé Cafe’s customers have found the ‘quality of food’ and relaxed ambiance to be the main attractions of the concept, the main reason why more than 90 per cent of Dulcé Cafe’s customers are return-customers.”
