Australian quick service restaurant Oporto will open its first restaurant in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in mid September 2018.

Oporto, with franchisor Ataraxia Capital Partners, will open the restaurant at the newly built Colombo City Centre Mall at the centre’s food atrium.

The retailer will also open another store in Shangri-La’s One Mall Food Atrium in early 2019.

Craig Tozer, Oporto CEO, said for over 30 years Oporto has been serving Aussies their Bondi Burger and flame grilled Portuguese chicken and now they are honoured to share it with Sri Lankans.

The Food Atrium will house 15 outlets both local and international, and patrons will be able to choose from Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Sri Lankan, Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine as well as fusion of Western selections.

“For many years Sri Lankans have asked for Oporto to come here,” said partner and co-founder of Ataraxia Capital Partners. “It really celebrates our love of chicken, Portuguese heritage and of course chilli.”
