The iconic dessert from Belgium has taken over almost every corner of Kolkata. There was a time when waffles were limited to the menus of five-star hotels. But now, it has become a staple of the city’s youth brigade. “My lunch often includes waffles as it is cheap and filling. This shop is just near my college, so I often drop in,” said Shramana Gupta, who was spotted at The Belgian Waffle Co in Short Street. Devangi Basa, the co-owner of the shop, added, “Mostly, young people come here with friends. Waffles are very popular among them.”

These waffle shops also serve various shakes and coolers. Waffles, of various types and bases, with different types of add-ons, have become the favorite dessert of the season.“Waffles are the latest trend in Kolkata. My shop came up only about a few months ago and it’s already a hit, I am trying to open more outlets,” said Sahil Vohra, the owner of Belgian Waffle Junction in New Alipore.

American Waffle House

This small waffle outlet in Lake Gardens has all the reasons to make it to our list. It was inaugurated on Christmas last year and has become quite popular. The best-selling ones are Naughty Nutella and Choco Blast. Their Berry Blue is also to die for.

Belgian Waffle junction

This shop in New Alipore has got the recipes directly from Belgium and has a number of innovation waffles on their menu. From bubble waffles to lolly waffles. they have everything to suit your mood. But it is Mr. Oreo that rules their waffle chart and Chocolate Overboard is also in high demand.

This small shop at Bhawanipore is a hot favorite for its large variety of waffles. They also have bubble waffles in store, which are not very common at other waffle joints. In addition, they also serve savory waffles with different, tasty toppings. They don’t serve non-veg waffles.

Waffle Wallah has many outlets in the city. The one right at the center of city’s most happening area, Park Street, serves non-veg waffles that are quite different from other waffle joints. Their best-selling ones are Death by Chocolate and Pizza toppings with chicken.
