%Arabica – Japanese most popular coffee chain debuts in Vietnam

%Arabica, a Japanese coffee chain, expands to Vietnam by franchising. The launch of its first location in Ho Chi Minh City has been announced. The opening is being led by Hong Kong-based investment firm The Kho Group.

%Arabica eventually finished the store fitout within the well-known “Cafe Apartments” building on the city’s busy Nguyen Hue walking street, three years after announcing the location of the first store.

The French creative company Cigue used local architectural elements while incorporating the brand’s signature basic and clean design aesthetic in the 100 square meter cafe.

According to Vynce Nguyen, GM of The Kho Group, “Locations are one of the most essential criteria for %Arabica when opening in new region.” The Nguyen Hue cafe apartment building was choosen after they completed extensive location scouting.

In a market already recognized for its culture of coffee consumption, Nguyen said %Arabica aims to provide customers with a new coffee experience. The Vietnamese shop will serve food from a menu that is used in other marketplaces.

Kenneth Shoji founded %Arabica, which debuted its first location in Japan before franchising to Mainland China, Cambodia, the US, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In September 2022, it opened the South Korean flagship shop, and it also has franchising plans for Canada, India, France, and the Philippines.
