Boutique Fitness Studios (BFS), the master franchisee for Xponential Fitness brands like Club Pilates, Rumble Boxing, and CycleBar in Australia and New Zealand, has reached a significant milestone with the opening of its 50th studio — a StretchLab in Western Australia’s Mount Pleasant, set to launch in mid-October.
“When I discovered these brands while living in the U.S., I knew they’d bring something unique to the Australian market,” said BFS CEO Matt Gordin.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, Gordin emphasized how BFS has thrived despite the challenges of COVID and lockdowns. Since becoming a master franchisee in 2019, BFS has sold 106 licenses across its four fitness brands.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen tremendous growth in both franchisee client numbers and franchise sales,” Gordin shared. “We have several new studios in the pipeline across Australia, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Looking ahead, BFS plans to open five more Club Pilates and StretchLab locations, plus two Rumble Boxing studios before the end of the year. The company has also secured a major investment from Viva Leisure, one of Australia’s largest fitness operators, to fuel expansion. Viva Leisure will convert eight of its Rebalance Studios into Club Pilates locations as part of this deal.
In New Zealand, BFS aims to open over 25 studios in 2025, including ten new Club Pilates locations.
Australia’s fitness industry continues to thrive, with Australians spending up to $3.5 billion on fitness clubs and gyms in 2023, according to the latest report by GapMaps, signaling a bright future for BFS.
