Cafe Kitsune opens its first store in Taiwan

Café Kitsuné, a French-Japanese inspired café and dining concept, has opened its first store in Taiwan and its 26th store globally.

The Paris-based boutique café group has been expanding its presence in Asia, with recent market entries in Singapore and the Philippines, and now has 14 stores across Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The group’s first Taiwanese outlet is located at the Bellavista shopping mall in Taipei, alongside premium café brands Come True Coffee and Heritage Bakery & Café.

According to research from World Coffee Portal, the branded coffee shop market in Taiwan is expected to reach 3,197 outlets by 2025, with Louisa Coffee and Starbucks leading the way. This growth is indicative of an increasing consumer demand for more premium café experiences across the country. In response, Japanese boutique coffee group % Arabica opened its first store in Taipei in August 2022, and domestic specialty coffee chain HWC Coffee plans to expand its 70 stores across Taiwan and launch in Brunei in April 2023.

Other Taiwanese specialty coffee shops include Simple Kaffa, Coffee Stopover, Kafemera, and Fika Fika Café.

Café Kitsuné also has stores in the UK, the US, Canada, France, and the UAE.
