Ediya Coffee Expands into Southeast Asia with Kolao Group Partnership

Ediya Coffee, a leading South Korean coffeehouse chain, is set to enter the Southeast Asian market through a master franchise agreement with Grandview Property, a subsidiary of Laos’ Kolao Group. The agreement, signed on January 16 at Kolao Group’s headquarters in Vientiane, Laos, marks Ediya Coffee’s expansion into Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

The first Ediya Coffee store in Laos is scheduled to open in June, with further expansion plans into Cambodia and Myanmar. Laos has been identified as a key market due to its robust economic growth and an increasing demand for coffee. The rising popularity of Korean culture, driven by social media platforms like Netflix and YouTube, is also expected to boost the brand’s appeal.

Ediya Coffee, established in 2001, is known for its affordability, quality, and strong focus on research and development. Partnering with Kolao Group, which has diversified interests across finance, platforms, distribution, and F&B sectors, provides Ediya Coffee with access to extensive local networks and distribution channels.

By leveraging Kolao Group’s local expertise, Ediya Coffee aims to introduce Korean-style coffee culture while developing menu options tailored to local preferences. The collaboration seeks to combine Ediya Coffee’s R&D strengths with Kolao’s market insights to ensure a successful market entry.

An Ediya Coffee representative expressed optimism about the expansion, citing the company’s previous international success in Guam and Malaysia. “We are committed to establishing Ediya Coffee as a leading global brand through our partnership with Kolao Group,” the representative stated.

Southeast Asia’s coffee market is rapidly growing due to changing consumer preferences, urbanization, and the influence of global coffee trends. The region presents significant opportunities for new entrants, with countries like Laos experiencing a steady rise in coffee consumption.

Ediya Coffee’s strategic expansion plan includes localized offerings to attract consumers while maintaining its Korean identity. The partnership with Kolao Group is expected to pave the way for the brand to become a prominent player in the Southeast Asian coffee industry, strengthening its global presence.
