In October, franchise brands continued to expand globally

More than 2½ years later, on October 25, 2022, global corporations have learnt to adapt and continue to expand into new nations. This month’s international deals roundup features an Australian smoothie brand expanding into Cambodia, a U.S. pizza and ice cream brand making its Egyptian debut, a U.S. “better chicken” brand expanding in the U.K., two U.S. fitness brands expanding abroad, and two U.S. automotive service brands establishing themselves abroad.

To introduce the Australian smoothie and juice brand to Cambodia, Boost Juice has inked a memorandum of understanding with EFG (Express Food Group), Cambodia’s top F&B operator. The first locations are scheduled to debut in December. EFG has pledged to opening 20 Boost outlets in Cambodia during the next five years. The deal also includes potential shop locations in Laos and Myanmar. Stores are projected to open in airports, shopping malls, and petrol stations, catering to Asian demand for grab-and-go, convenience retail, and the healthy daily beverage trend.

Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream has established its first Egyptian location. According to the firm, the new restaurant, located in the Cairo neighborhood of Roxy, Heliopolis, is already tracking higher visitor traffic than its U.S. equivalent on comparable orders over the same multi-week span. H.J. Middle East LLC’s Ahmed El Batran wants to establish several more Happy Joe’s restaurants around Egypt over the next five months, beginning with outlets in the Giza suburb of Sodic, the Mall of Egypt, and the Mall of Arabia before the end of the year.

Slim Chickens, the Fayetteville, Arkansas-based fast casual “better chicken” brand, continues to expand worldwide with another location in the United Kingdom, this time in Wolverhampton’s Sainsbury’s Supermarket. Boparan Restaurant Company (BRG), a multi-unit operating group, has collaborated with the Sainsbury’s team to open the facility as part of its Restaurant Hub concept. Slim Chickens has over 190 outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom, with over 1,100 more in the works.

Snap Fitness has increased its footprint in Central Saskatchewan by building its third location in the province. Local entrepreneur Jared Rodgers owns and manages the new gym in Warman, as well as three other Snap Fitness locations with his wife and co-owner Hailey Rodgers.

Tint World Automotive Styling Centres has expanded into Concord, Ontario. From his new location, franchisee Amir Arjomand provides a wide range of automotive services to local customers, including auto accessory sales and installation, mobile electronics, audio-video equipment, security systems, custom wheels and tire packages, window tinting, vehicle wraps, paint protection films, detailing services, nano ceramic coatings, and maintenance and repair services.

Rumble, Club Pilates, StretchLab, and CycleBar have all inked master franchise agreements with Xponential Fitness in Kuwait. The agreement with Kuwaiti real estate business Aqarat asks for the opening of at least eight studios within the first ten years of the arrangement. Aqarat is a commercial, residential, and hotel property developer and management in Kuwait, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Aqarat also has joint venture agreements and investments with the hospitality companies Yotel, Courtyard by Marriott, and IFA Hotels and Resorts.
