Jaggers, Texas Roadhouse’s Burger Brand, Set to Double in Size by 2024

Texas Roadhouse has swiftly expanded its presence on a national scale, securing the designation of the “fastest growing restaurant brand” in March. Recently, its fast-casual burger brand, Jaggers, has been actively seeking to amplify its footprint.

Commencing operations in Noblesville, Ind., in late 2014, Jaggers restaurants specialize in crafting burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, and salads from scratch. Presently, the chain operates in eight locations spanning Louisville, Ky.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Southern Indiana; and Jacksonville, N.C. This figure may soon double. In a Q3 earnings call, Jerry Morgan, CEO of Texas Roadhouse, stated the company’s intent to “target” three Jaggers locations in 2024, with an additional expectation that franchise partners will unveil at least nine locations, including four Jaggers.

This projection indicates a potential addition of seven new restaurants in the coming year, bringing the total to 15. As noted by Nation’s Restaurant News, Jaggers experienced gradual growth, beginning with two locations in early 2020 and expanding to three by the year’s end. In 2021, the company inked its inaugural franchise development agreement with The Saxton Group, aiming to launch 10 locations in east and central Texas and Tulsa, Okla. These ventures are currently in progress.

Jaggers’ expansion pace accelerated in 2022, witnessing the establishment of two new restaurants. During the same period, the burger chain introduced a new mobile app featuring a loyalty program. In 2023, Jaggers further expanded by opening three additional locations, reaching a total of eight. Kent Taylor, the late founder of Texas Roadhouse, envisioned Jaggers as a place offering superior burgers to Five Guys, along with chicken tenders and sandwiches that could rival those of Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A, as detailed in his book, “Made from Scratch: The Legendary Success Story of Texas Roadhouse.”

In the recent earnings call, Morgan disclosed plans to open 30 more company-owned Texas Roadhouse restaurants and 33 Bubba’s 33 locations in the upcoming year. Bubba’s 33, Texas Roadhouse’s sports bar chain, currently operates in 45 locations across the U.S. Meanwhile, Texas Roadhouse, with around 615 U.S. restaurants, has previously outlined aspirations to expand its footprint to 900 locations.
