The Katy-Morton Ranch location is scheduled to open June 2 at 2660 West Grand Parkway serving burgers, hand-breaded chicken tenders, and sandwiches served with signature sauces. On the menu also are fresh salads, chopped and tossed upon ordering.

Katy-Morton Ranch is the second Jaggers location in Texas, following the Longview location that opened in 2023, according to a news release.

“We’re so excited to introduce our authentic scratch-made chicken sandwiches, burgers and salads to Katy-Morton Ranch,” said Keith Sullins, Jaggers Houston owner, “We look forward to engaging with the community and supporting local efforts.”

The name Jaggers is an ode to Texas Roadhouse founder Kent Taylor’s uncle, Bill, according to a 2020 interview with Taylor in Louisville Business First. Bill Taylor was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses. The term “jagger” is an English word meant to portray a peddler or hawker, according to Ancestry.com.

Taylor felt the name personified his entrepreneur uncle.

The 3,500-square-foot restaurant will also will have a drive-thru.

It is expected to create 85 full and part-time jobs.

Job seekers can apply in person in the parking lot of the restaurant, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. To apply online, visit the Careers section on the Jaggers website. Applicants must be at least 16, and no experience is required.

The first Jaggers location opened in Noblesville, Ind., in 2014.

Texas Roadhouse also owns Bubba’s 33, with locations in Katy and Pasadena. Taylor died in March 2021.

In his book “Made From Scratch: The Legendary Success Story of Texas Roadhouse,” published posthumously, he described Jaggers as “a place that would have better burgers than Five Guys, and serve chicken tenders and sandwiches that could compete with Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A” as reported by National Restaurant News, a trade publication of the restaurant industry.
