Little Caesars Pizza will establish a UK location in Derby before Christmas.

True Pizzas previously managed the premises until the American brand took control. Little Caesars Pizza’s first UK restaurant in almost two decades will debut in Derby just in time for Christmas. The American pizza franchise will open on Riber Drive in Chellaston on Monday, December 19.

The takeaway and eat-in location will serve the company’s iconic “Hot N Ready” giant 12-inch pizzas in a variety of flavors, including pepperoni and Margherita. Visitors to the retail park would have seen extensive renovation work being done to turn the old True Pizzas unit, which closed on Sunday, November 13, after just over a year of operation, into a franchisee-run Little Caesars location.

The Detroit-based restaurant brand, which operates in 27 countries and territories globally, is expanding further by adding its first UK locations in almost 20 years. The Derby location will be the first to open in the UK, followed by two locations in London and one in Liverpool early next year.

Once open, Little Caesars will become part of the Riber Drive shopping area which currently has an Aldi supermarket and a Costa Coffee drive-thru, as well as a Greggs bakery store, which debuted in October 2020.

Marian and Michael Ilitch of Detroit launched the pizza company in 1959. Today, the company has over 4,000 locations globally, with an annual revenue of roughly $4 billion.

Little Caesars formerly operated locations in the United Kingdom more than 20 years ago. The Derby location will be the first to open in the nation since the company left the British market two decades ago.

“As we continue to expand across the world, we are happy to introduce Little Caesars Pizza and our globally recognized value, quality, and convenience to the UK,” stated Paula Vissing, chief operating officer for Little Caesars Pizza, when the opening was initially announced. Given its importance, the United Kingdom is a crucial new market for us. We want to add many new locations in this area over the next several years, and we’re thrilled to be doing so with such strong franchisee groups in Derby, London, and Liverpool.”

“The UK pizza business is valued at more than £2.5 billion and is likely to continue increasing year on year,” said Jeremy Vitaro, chief development officer of the family-owned pizza firm. Now is the time to take advantage of the building momentum. We are looking for more franchisees who are interested in getting into area developer agreements in London and other areas such as southern England, Scotland, and Ireland.”
