Papa John’s Korea Launches ‘Mama Chicken’: American-Style Fried Chicken Brand Enters South Korea’s Competitive Market

On Monday, company officials stated that Papa John’s Korea has introduced an American-style fried chicken brand in South Korea, strategically aiming to penetrate the fiercely competitive market in the country.

Under the name “Mama Chicken,” the brand inaugurated its first store in the Mapo district, located in western Seoul, last Friday. Pjikorea Ltd., the local operator of the American pizza restaurant chain, is responsible for managing Mama Chicken.

The primary objective of Mama Chicken is to directly rival the popular American-style Cajun fried chicken and chicken wings market in South Korea.

Looking ahead, the brand has ambitious plans to establish its second store later this year and venture into the franchise business in the following year. Their long-term vision involves operating up to 1,000 stores nationwide by the year 2035.
