Popular Taiwan Coffee Chain HWC to open 40 new stores in Malaysia and debut in Brunei

Taiwanese coffee chain, HWC Coffee, is set to open 40 new stores across Malaysia this year, following its international debut in April 2022. Additionally, the company plans to expand into Brunei with its first store opening in April 2023.

Taiwanese specialty coffee chain, HWC Coffee, plans to expand its operations in Malaysia by opening 40 new stores this year. Additionally, it has announced its intention to launch in Brunei in April 2023, following its international debut in Malaysia in April 2022.

HWC Coffee currently operates 70 stores in Taiwan and 18 in Malaysia, with plans to open a flagship store and coffee academy in Klang Valley in May 2023. The coffee academy will provide barista training programmes and specialty coffee experiences.

According to World Coffee Portal research, the Malaysian branded coffee shop market is expected to exceed 2,750 outlets by 2025, driven by the expansion of coffee-focused chains.

HWC Coffee aims to utilize its growing presence in Malaysia to establish its first store in Brunei, where there is currently a small branded coffee shop market, with major chains like Starbucks, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Gloria Jean’s operating alongside domestic independent cafes like Kopifix and Roasted Sip Coffee Roasters.
