Retail – Zara opens eco-efficient flagship in Hong Kong

Zara continues its international expansion and has opened a store in Queens Road, in the commercial and financial heart of Hong Kong thus promoting its most recent image in one of the most dynamic cities in Asia.

This emblematic store shares a global concept with the same interior design as Zara’s flagships in other great cities such as New York, London, Paris and Madrid.
The store is 5000 square meters spread over six floors and is located in the historic Crawford House, a building that was occupied in the 1930’s by the China Emporium ltd, one of the largest department stores of that time.
An eco-efficient store
The global establishment that brings together all Zara’s collections is rooted in environmental commitment which was planned in the Sustainable Plan of Inditex 2011 – 2015, and which incorporates sustainable elements in all the Inditex eco-efficient stores. The result is a store that uses 30% less energy compared to the average energy use of a conventional store; it reduces the consumption of water by 70% and avoids some 150 CO2 emissions per year.
With the new store in Queens Road, there are now twelve Zara stores in Hong Kong that was the first Chinese city where the brand opened in 2004. Inditex has a total of 28 outlets of all its brands in the city. In the whole of China there are 457 stores belonging to the Inditex Group.
