Paris Baguette, the South Korean bakery-café chain, has recently inaugurated its first store in the Philippines at the Mall of Asia shopping center in Manila. This expansion comes through a partnership between its parent company, SPC Group, and its Malaysian franchisee, Berjaya Food.
SPC Group announced in August 2023 that Berjaya Food would facilitate Paris Baguette’s entry into the Philippines, originally slated for the fourth quarter of the previous year. Berjaya Food, currently managing five Paris Baguette outlets in Malaysia, aims to establish five sites in the Philippines by the end of 2024.
An official from SPC Group expressed confidence in Paris Baguette’s quality and expertise, drawn from operating over 4,000 stores worldwide. They anticipate leading a new bakery trend in the Philippines.
The Philippines marks Paris Baguette’s 12th global market and its eighth in East Asia, joining South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. The chain also has a presence in France, the UK, the US, and Canada. Moreover, it has inked a memorandum of understanding with the UAE-based Galadari Brothers Group for expansion in the Middle East.
Established in South Korea in 1988, Paris Baguette presently operates 3,750 stores domestically and over 500 outlets internationally.
