Subway Makes a Grand Entrance into Mongolia with First Store in Ulaanbaatar

The Subway Series menu has expanded for the first time with four beloved classics and two brand new sandwiches, bringing the star-studded lineup to 18 total subs.


Subway has made its debut in Mongolia, celebrating the opening of its first store in Ulaanbaatar today. This launch is part of a strategic expansion plan in partnership with Juulchin, a subsidiary of the Tavan Bogd Group, aiming to establish around 50 Subway locations across Mongolia over the next ten years.

“Asia-Pacific is a key region for our global expansion strategy, with many untapped markets and a growing consumer appetite for Subway,” stated John Chidsey, CEO of Subway. “The potential for growth here is tremendous.”

The rapid increase in demand for quick-service restaurants (QSR) in Mongolia is driven by a younger demographic seeking healthier dining options. “With the rising popularity of QSR in Mongolia, there is a noticeable shift among young consumers towards more balanced dietary choices,” noted Tsagaach Baatarsaikhan, President and CEO of Tavan Bogd Group.

Subway has been on an aggressive expansion trajectory, opening nearly 1,000 restaurants worldwide over the past three years. The company is actively seeking new partners to help grow its global footprint by 25% within the next five years.
