Taiwan Steel Group is set to broaden its business horizons with the acquisition of domestic franchise rights for the U.S. fast-food giant Burger King in Taiwan. This move aligns with Taiwan Steel’s strategy to diversify its portfolio, which includes investments in sports teams such as TSG Tainan City Football Club, Tainan TSG Ghost Hawks basketball team, TSG Hawks baseball team, and Wing Stars cheerleading team.
Currently, Burger King operates 95 outlets in Taiwan, a number deemed insufficient by industry experts. Taiwan Steel aims to boost this figure to at least 130 in the near term, as reported by UDN. The fast-food chain’s annual revenue from domestic operations stands at around NT$2.2 billion (US$68.8 million). However, final approval from Burger King’s U.S. headquarters is still pending.
