These days, you don’t have to sweat it out under the sun if you want to get on a bike. You can head to a cycling studio instead. Whether you’re a cycling pro or a rookie, doing the rounds on spin bikes torch as many calories as hitting the running track. Book a class and let immersive big screens transport you to alternate worlds, trippy lighting set the mood and upbeat music get your heart (and feet) racing at these spots.

R10T
Multi-themed boutique studio R10T houses three different concepts under one roof – spin studio, yoga practice, and HIIT class. The R1DE classes, in particular, are held in a futuristic-looking room with strobe lights and a smoke machine to help provide plenty of fun distractions while you pedal up a sweat.
Try this R1DE, a 50-minute session of cardio fun. Look out for its themed sessions, where you get to ride to bops from the 90s and catch the bass from rock tunes.

Aurora
Aurora is the latest spin studio to hit Singapore. Book into one of two different experiences: the Experience Room or Infinity Room. Both come outfitted with a darkened space illuminated by a slick lighting system, with classes that run the range from fundamentals to its signature Ride The Thunderstorm.
Try this Ride The Aurora, a rhythm-based class matched to the beat of the music and pulsating light effects.

Absolute You
Take time out of your shopping schedule to join in one of Absolute You’s many exercise classes. Priding itself as a 360° fitness solution in Asia, Absolute You brings rhythm cycling, Pilates reformer, and yoga together for a holistic fitness experience.
Try this Rhythm cycling. Break a sweat with this intense 45-minute cardio workout that will have you ‘dancing’ on a stationary bike to high-octane music. For a limited time, the dancefloor of Zouk has also been transformed into a pop-up spin studio, so you can experience what it’s like to sweat it out on the dance floor.
Ground Zero (Cross St Exchange)
At Ground Zero, you’ll get distracted by the futuristic lighting strips on the ceiling that light up to the rhythm and beat of the high energy music. Workouts here are conducted in a dimly lit (but well-ventilated) room – the only spotlight is on the instructors so you know where to look for motivation. Sweat and pant it out without any fear of judgement.
Try this Ride. You’re put through a 50-minute choreographed rhythm-based routine while a curated playlist blares out. You’ll find regular themed classes on the schedule as well, from chart-topping Korean pop hits to classic Westlife tunes.

Sync Cycle
Yio Chu Kang is probably the last place you’d think of in terms of indoor cycling but, then again, Sync Cycle isn’t your usual cycling studio. Fostering a tight community is a big part of this heartland gym’s ethos – you’ll find members often hanging around after class to chat.
Try this Rhythmic Ride caters to both newbies and regular riders as you decide how much you want to put on the resistance knob. Expect to go through various challenging terrains – rolling hills, steep mountains, climbs and sprints – in a neon-lit room. New to spin? Drop by for Beginner Rhythm – a less intense class that teaches you the basics of the sport, from setting up the bike to the various moves performed.
Axiom
The small enclave of Holland Village is not only home to eateries and restaurants, but also a handful of fitness studios. Axiom is a boutique fitness space that offers spinning classes and strength workouts. Peddle to the beat in the high-energy Rhythm class, or build up your stamina with Road, which focuses more on resistance and high-intensity sprints. The studio will also be rolling out strength training programs in the coming months for those looking to pack some lean muscles.
Try this Road. Instead of the usual choreographed session, switch things up with the stamina-building, 50-minute session. You’ll need to pay attention to the bike’s reading to ensure you’re hitting the right distance and RPM (revolutions per minute) and pushing yourself to the limits.

The CBD has no shortage of gyms and spinning studios. Adding to the selection is newcomer Revolution. It works on a similar premise as other spinning studios: strap up with the provided shoes, enter a dark room filled with strobing lights, and pedal your way through 45 minutes of high-octane workout. There are also clean shower facilities and towels for you to clean up after an intense sweat sesh. Look out for the lockers in the changing rooms; each cubby is named after a famous star, from the likes of Shawn Mendes and Harry Styles, which certainly makes it easier to remember where you left your bag as compared to the usual numerical system.
Try this Revolution Ride. A full-body, 45-minute workout that’s matched to the beat of slick music and light effects.
CruCycle
Inspired by the cycling craze in California, the Ding siblings – Valerie, Calvin and Beatrice – started their own local cycling studio version in 2014. And, as they say, the rest is history. This indoor venue packs its riders close together in a large space to promote a team-orientated spirit in a fun and lively atmosphere while also pushing you out of your comfort zone.
Try this All Level Pack Ride. Crucycle’s signature 50-minute class incorporates weights and core exercises for a well-rounded workout.
Aquaspin
If you think cycling on the road is hard, try it underwater. According to Aquaspin, Singapore’s first underwater biking class, water offers 42 times more resistance than air. The result? You’ll burn three times more calories than training on land. Aqua spinning is a high-intensity, low-impact workout that’s tough on fat and easy on the joints – even pregnant ladies can get in on it. All of the bikes are set up in the pool and you only have to turn up with your swimwear, towel and lots of energy.
Try this Aqua Signature, a high-intensity interval training session that includes short sprints with active recovery to get your heart rate going and for maximum calorie burn even after the session ends.
Athlete Lab
Athlete Lab is an indoor cycling experience with real bikes (and not spin ones), known as Adjustabikes. Unlike spinning bikes, these Adjustabikes offer an accurate reflection of road cycling for optimal intensity, targetting specific muscle groups. Offering one-on-one coaching and race simulations, it caters to everyone from beginners to pro athletes training for triathlons.
Try this Ironmania. Great for beginners, this lower intensity session starts with a reduced FTP, allowing you to get in the zone while improving your base fitness and prepping you up for a more intense session next time.
