The Michelin Guide has unveiled its latest Bib Gourmand list, adding five restaurants in Hanoi and eight in Ho Chi Minh City, recognized for offering excellent food at reasonable prices.

This year’s additions bring the total number of Bib Gourmand recipients in Vietnam to 42, up from 29 last year.

In Hanoi, the newly honored establishments include Bun Cha Chan, Luk Lak (known for grilled pork belly with herbal sauce), Dong Thinh (specializing in eel vermicelli), Mr. Bay Mien Tay (famous for its crispy fried pancakes with various fillings), and Khoi Hoi (renowned for its pho noodle soup).

Meanwhile, in Ho Chi Minh City, the new entries feature Banh Xeo 46A, Bo Kho Ganh (a beef stew eatery), Hue-style Beef Noodle Soup 14B, Man Moi, Tu’s House, Sol Kitchen & Bar, Com Tho Chuyen Ky (celebrated for its double-boiled silkie chicken soup), and Vi Que Kitchen.

Gwendal Poullennec, the international director of the Michelin Guide, commented, “With 13 new Bib Gourmand restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this year, our 2024 selection invites gourmets to explore the charm, quality, and diverse offerings of Vietnamese cuisine.”

Michelin’s Bib Gourmand awards spotlight dining venues known for offering high-quality, good-value meals, appealing to Guide users seeking affordability without sacrificing taste or quality.

The unveiling of Michelin star ratings for restaurants in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang is scheduled for June 27. Vietnam’s first four Michelin-starred restaurants were named last year.

Michelin inspectors evaluate venues based on five key criteria: the chef’s culinary personality, flavor balance, cooking techniques, ingredient quality, and menu consistency over time.
