Top 10 Franchises That Grew Sales in Pandemic Year

These top 10 growers added a collective $17.59 billion in sales in 2020.

Ace Hardware grew system sales by $3.58 billion in 2020 from the year before, a notable increase in any year but especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ace Hardware ranks No. 1 in largest sales growth by dollars on the newly released Franchise Times Top 400 list.

7-Eleven is No. 2, with sales up $2.8 billion.

Circle K is No. 3, up $2.7 billion. Ace, 7-Eleven and Circle K are the only retailers to make the top 10 in sales growth, and hold the first three positions.

Domino’s is No. 4, up $1.8 billion.

Keller Williams is No. 5, up $1.4 billion, and one of three franchises in home sales in the top 10.

Chick-fil-A is No. 6, up $1.4 billion, and one of only four fast-food restaurants to make it in the top 10. (The others are Domino’s, Sonic and Popeyes.)

RE/MAX is No. 7, up $1.05 billion. G.J. Gardner is No. 8, up $1.03 billion.

Sonic Drive-In is No. 9, up $993 million.

Popeyes is No. 10, up $746 million in sales from the prior year.

The Franchise Times Top 400 also analyzes sales growth by percentage increase, and this measurement puts United Real Estate on top, with sales up a remarkable 126.8 percent.
