PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh, in partnership with the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service and with support from the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, is hosting a Cambodia Franchise Expo on May 5, 2021. The virtual Expo will bring together nine well regarded U.S. franchising companies — The Boiling Crab, Chili’s, Dickey’s BBQPit, Duck Donuts, Long John Silver’s, Mathnasium, Snap Fitness, Tapout Fitness, and Tumbles — with over 30 Cambodian businesses and entrepreneurs to discuss potential partnerships. U.S. Ambassador W. Patrick Murphy will deliver opening remarks to kick off the Expo.
Appreciated and admired for their high standards, innovation, and quality of products and services, U.S. businesses are often the first way Cambodians connect with the United States. U.S. companies and famous American brands have been successful and are growing in Cambodia, ranging from Ford automobiles and Facebook to Starbucks coffee and Papa John’s pizza. Cambodians seek out these high-quality products and services, and there is an appetite for more. This event is just one of many conducted by the U.S. Embassy to introduce more U.S. companies to Cambodia.
Bilateral trade and investment flows between the United States and the Kingdom of Cambodia are increasing, and more American companies are coming each year, bringing with them ethical business practices, high labor and environmental standards, and strong corporate social responsibility programs that connect with local communities. “You see many of these brands in Southeast Asia today – Bangkok, Singapore, and Ho Chi Minh City. The time is right to see them in Phnom Penh as well,” said Ambassador Murphy. “I am confident that the Expo will raise awareness of excellent business opportunities and establish connections that yield results for both countries.”
