Vietnamese Coffee Chain Cộng Cà phê Expands Globally, Sets Sights on Canada

Cộng Cà phê currently has up to 16 stores in South Korea before officially venturing into Canada. Recently, Cộng Cà phê announced its plans to open its first store in Toronto, Canada, marking the coffee chain’s third international market entry. The store in Canada will be the 20th branch of Cộng Cà phê in foreign markets.

Prior to this, the coffee chain, steeped in Vietnamese tradition, had already expanded to South Korea and Malaysia, leaving a significant mark in the land of the Korean wave. Since its first store opened in July 2018, Cộng Cà phê has established a total of 16 branches in South Korea. Specifically, there are 6 stores in the Busan province, and 3 in both Seoul and Geyonggi. Even in Vietnam, this brand has become a “must-try” destination for many South Korean tourists. It’s not difficult to spot Korean tourists flocking to the bustling Cộng Cà phê stores in tourist destinations such as Hanoi’s Nhà Chung Street, Sapa, and Hoi An.

As of now, several Vietnamese coffee chains have made plans to expand internationally, but the number of branches remains limited. The Phuc Long tea and coffee chain, after coming under the ownership of Masan, opened its first store in the United States. It is currently the only international store under the Phuc Long brand.

Meanwhile, Trung Nguyên Legend, led by Mr. Đặng Lê Nguyên Vũ, began its international development efforts in 2022, starting with China. Trung Nguyên Legend now has two stores in Shanghai. Chairman Đặng Lê Nguyên Vũ also has plans to expand through investment partnerships (franchising), with a goal of developing 1,000 locations across various provinces and cities in China.
