Domino’s Pizza Malaysia plans more stores

dominospizzajapanDomino’s Pizza Malaysia says it plans to open 25 new stores this year as it aims at a bigger slice of the nation’s fast food market.

The chain has recently unveiled a revised menu and launched a price promotion campaign #PaySameOrLess aimed to calming fears of local consumers worried about the impact of GST from April 1.

The company predicts the campaign, and store network expansion, will boost sales by 12 per cent growth this year.

GM (operations) for Domino’s in Malaysia and Singapore, Shamsul Amree Ab Rahman, said the campaign will “emphasise Domino’s’ transparency with the GST” and give customers a ‘price checker’ with which to compare prices pre- and post-GST pricing.

“The GST will enable us to reduce the cost of production,” he said. “With lower prices, we strongly believe customers will come back and enjoy the great value offer by Domino’s.”

The company says it will invest about US$4.8 million in opening new stores, or about RM700,000 per store ($190,000). Having established strong representation in the capital Kuala Lumpur, the company will focus its expansion on Sarawak and Sabah.
