Crunch Fitness is set to plant its flag in North Idaho with a new $5 million, 30,000-square-foot club in Coeur d’Alene, marking the brand’s first location in one of the fastest-growing recreation markets in the western United States. The franchisee operating the build-out, Fit Fusion, confirmed in an April 6, 2026 announcement that the club will open in fall 2026 with pre-sales beginning this summer. The club will sit at 101 E Appleway Ave and debut Crunch’s newest format, Crunch 3.0.
The Coeur d’Alene gym joins Crunch’s accelerating push into mid-size, fitness-tourism markets. With a footprint of roughly 30,000 square feet and a hardware budget of $5 million, the club is engineered for a community that already has a strong outdoor culture — Coeur d’Alene’s lake, trails and ski slopes draw year-round residents and a heavy summer flux of visitors. Fit Fusion now operates 15 Crunch locations across the United States and is using the Idaho opening as the launchpad for additional clubs in the broader Pacific Northwest region during 2026.
“Crunch Fitness is here to help fuel those adventures.”
That positioning, attributed to Fit Fusion’s Tiffany Levine, reframes the gym not as a destination workout but as a complement to the lifestyle North Idaho residents already lead. It is a signal of how Crunch’s franchisees are tailoring market entry around regional identity rather than a one-size-fits-all suburban template.
Crunch 3.0 is the brand’s third-generation club design, and Coeur d’Alene will be among the latest US openings to debut it. The format pairs traditional gym infrastructure with a heavy emphasis on recovery and wellness amenities — a theme Crunch has been pushing brand-wide. Inside, members will find:
Hydromassage, cryotherapy and red light therapy used to belong to boutique recovery studios that charged premium rates. Crunch’s decision to pull those amenities into its mass-market gyms — at value pricing — is reshaping member expectations. The Coeur d’Alene club doubles down on that strategy in a region where wellness, ski recovery and outdoor performance are core consumer drivers.
North Idaho is one of the United States’ fastest-growing metropolitan corridors, and Kootenai County has logged steady population gains since 2020. Coeur d’Alene benefits from both organic in-migration and seasonal tourism pulled in by Lake Coeur d’Alene, Schweitzer Mountain Resort and a deepening downtown. By selecting the city as Fit Fusion’s first Idaho club, the franchisee captures a market that has historically been underserved by chain fitness, while also setting up regional density for subsequent Crunch 3.0 build-outs.
Fit Fusion is opening pre-sales with an aggressive founding-member offer: the first 500 members can join for $1, receive their first month free, and pick up a limited-edition founding member t-shirt and Crunch swag. Each founding member also gets a complimentary personal training session anchored by a SECA body composition analysis. The franchisee is recruiting general managers, member service representatives, group fitness instructors and personal trainers to staff the new club ahead of the fall opening.
Crunch is headquartered in New York City and now serves 3.5 million members across 550+ gyms in 41 US states plus the District of Columbia, with international clubs in Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and India. The brand finished the latest Entrepreneur Franchise 500® ranked #2 in fitness and #20 overall — a 12-spot jump year over year — and was named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies. Coeur d’Alene is one piece in a much larger expansion machine that has been particularly active across the western and midwestern United States in 2026.
Coeur d’Alene’s price point is a useful data point for anyone modeling Crunch’s franchise economics. A $5 million all-in build for a 30,000-square-foot club translates to roughly $167 per square foot, in line with prior Crunch 3.0 launches but well below the cost-per-square-foot of premium boutique formats. Crunch’s value-priced membership against fully equipped recovery amenities is creating a hybrid category that competes both with low-cost chains on price and with boutique studios on experience — and Coeur d’Alene gives the brand another mid-tier US market to test the playbook before the fall opening.
