Singapore department store Metro has unveiled a whole new format in Orchard Rd featuring new brands and a more upmarket shopping environment.
At 130,000 sqft spread over six floors, the store is almost 70 per cent larger than its more fashion-focused department store at Paragon.
The 57 year old locally owned retailer has a new lease of life in the heart of the county’s shopping belt. It features new brands such as Cath Kidston and The Body Shop, while welcoming back resident brands like Gerry Webber and Chanel.
And for the first time, Metro will unveil all its flagship men’s labels under one roof – Jo Burton, Kurt Woods, Kiro, and m. maison, all of which are all made in Singapore by Metro.
A new men’s Denim Bar will be introducing a specially curated selection of denim styles, which includes cult skate brand clothing, KR3W.
Metro Centrepoint says each floor is dedicated to specific clientele, covering the lifestyle and sartorial needs found in cosmetics, men’s, women’s, kitchen, home and children’s departments.
It also marks a move into lifestyle services, with the launch of a men’s grooming salon – Sultans Of Shave – and a lavish nail bar for the ladies.
For the home, Metro now offers a holistic offering with a bespoke furniture service from Design Lab, where you can “design your own service” for special orders on couches, chairs and headboards. And Metro Centrepoint will offer a Monogram & Embroidery Service for bed linen, towels and gifts, which can now be individually personalised, adding a special touch to gifting.
“A Bosch kitchen will focus on engaging customers and there is a wellness room, complete with anti-allergy, anti-dust mite and anti-bed bug products.
Metro will host floor demonstrations from home and lifestyle brands, including cooking demos every Saturday throughout the year.
Aesthetically, the store has been designed to make every brand’s counter visible to the customer from any perspective and carefully selected artworks adorn the walls.
Hugh Kwan, branch manager of Metro Centrepoint, says he’s optimistic that the new store will transform the shopping experiences for new and existing customers alike.
“With Metro Centrepoint, we will be able to present our latest concepts that we hope will make for a great shopping experience.”
