Putting on a bold front following allegations it has not paid its rent, Hooters Hong Kong has closed its Wyndham Street outlet in Soho with plans to re-open in Kowloon.

Known for its hospitality girls, spicy chicken wings and sports screens, the Hooters of American franchise has signed a new location for its Hong Kong restaurant and bar, one of more than 430 outlets it has in 42 states and 26 countries.

With its headquarters in Bangkok, Destination Eats is the franchisee of Hooters in Southeast Asia. CEO Gary Murray says the company has more than 30 Hooters restaurants in the development pipeline, beginning initially in Thailand and expanding into Southeast Asian countries including Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Its first Hooters in Thailand officially opened at Patong Beach, Phuket, in 2014. Destination Eats plans to open three more Hooters branches, including Hooters Bangkok, Hooters Nana, Hooters Pattaya and Hooters Samui.
