Crunch Fitness announced the upcoming opening of Crunch Eagan in Eagan, Minnesota, a $5.5 million, 35,000-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness facility scheduled to open this fall. Operated by The Undefeated Tribe, one of the fastest-growing franchisees in the Crunch system, the new gym at 1646 Diffley Road will serve residents of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area and feature the brand’s latest Crunch 3.0 design standard.

What Is the Crunch 3.0 Gym Design?

Crunch 3.0 is the brand’s newest gym format, combining modern aesthetics with enhanced functionality. The Eagan location will offer an expanded suite of services that positions it as a full-spectrum fitness destination. Equipment and amenities include expanded strength and functional training areas, Olympic lifting platforms, a dedicated Hot Yoga Studio, Reformer Pilates, Ride cycling classes, and a Functional HIITZone training area with indoor turf. Members will also have access to Relax & Recover services including HydroMassage beds, red light therapy, tanning, a sauna, and Kids Crunch babysitting.

“We are so excited to bring the Crunch Fitness brand to Eagan and offer outstanding and affordable fitness,” said Tony Hartl, Founder and CEO of The Undefeated Tribe.

Memberships will start at $9.99 per month with round-the-clock hours, maintaining the brand’s hallmark accessibility. The gym is also offering a founding member promotion where the first 500 members join for $1 with their first month free, plus a complimentary one-hour personal training session, gym bag, water bottle, and t-shirt.

How Big Is The Undefeated Tribe’s Crunch Portfolio?

The Undefeated Tribe is one of the most prolific multi-unit operators within the Crunch system. Founded in 2018 by Tony Hartl, the franchisee group currently has 60 locations open and in development spanning five states — Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Missouri, and Minnesota. The group is on track to exceed 100 locations by 2028. Crunch Eagan will be The Undefeated Tribe’s third gym in the Minneapolis area, joining existing locations in Burnsville and Apple Valley.

The Undefeated Tribe has twice been selected as the Franchise of the Year for the Crunch Fitness system, in 2021 and 2023, recognizing its excellence in business performance, community service, and brand involvement. This expansion trajectory mirrors the broader Crunch system’s growth, as the brand targets 1,000 gyms globally following its $1.5 billion acquisition by Leonard Green & Partners.

Minnesota Market Expansion

The Undefeated Tribe is entering the Minnesota market with plans to open at least four gyms in 2026, including locations in St. Paul, Burnsville, Eagan, and Apple Valley. The Minneapolis–St. Paul metro, with a population exceeding 3.6 million, represents a significant growth corridor for affordable, high-value gym concepts. The region’s strong fitness culture and suburban expansion make it an attractive territory for Crunch’s value-oriented positioning.

What Does This Mean for Fitness Franchise Investors?

Crunch Fitness continues to demonstrate aggressive franchise-led expansion across the United States. The Eagan opening follows recent announcements in Greater Atlanta, Kenner, Louisiana, and multiple Texas markets. The brand’s #20 overall ranking on the Entrepreneur Franchise 500, up from #32 the previous year, and its inclusion on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies underscore the momentum.

For international franchise investors evaluating the fitness sector, the Crunch model highlights several structural advantages: membership pricing that appeals to a mass-market consumer base, a scalable 3.0 design format that standardizes the build-out experience, and large multi-unit franchise groups like The Undefeated Tribe that serve as operational proof-of-concept. Crunch currently operates in Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and India, and the brand’s domestic velocity suggests further international master franchise opportunities could follow as it pushes toward its 1,000-location target.
