Korean first premium gourmet egg sandwiches, Eggdrop, is expanding into Southeast Asia

Sandwich chain Eggdrop opened its first overseas location in Bangkok’s Siam Square shopping area and attracted over 2,000 customers in the first two days of business.

Eggdrop’s primary store worldwide is a two-story building with the brand’s recognizable red and white color scheme. The outlet retails the brand’s famous sandwiches, such as Mr. Egg, Garlic Bacon Cheese, and Avo Bacon Korean Toast.

Eggdrop announced that it has signed a franchise agreement to open ten stores in Thailand and has intentions to expand into different areas of Asia, the United States, and Europe.

Eggdrop’s parent company, Golden Hind, launched the brand’s inaugural store in 2017. By September of 2022, the chain had almost 290 stores in its domestic market. The company revealed that it had received franchise requests from over 30 countries, including the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and India.

Eggdrop’s decision for selecting Bangkok as the site for its first international branch is likely due to Thailand’s status as Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, and the country’s tourism is expected to see substantial growth following China’s reopening of borders.
